Another view of the Eagle Nebula. Hubble image. Dude.

While the observations in the optical allow astronomers to study the gas in full detail, This visible-light image of the central region of the Lagoon Nebula reveals a fantasy landscape of ridges, canyons, pillars, and mountains of gas and dust surrounding a very hot newborn star. When the visible view crossfades into an image taken in near-infrared light, the most obvious difference is the abundance of stars that fill the field of view. Sometimes you need a reminder that you’re just a tiny This NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope image reveals a pair of half a light-year long interstellar 'twisters', eerie twisted funnel structures, in the heart of the Lagoon Nebula (M8). The central hot star, O Herschel 36 (shown here on left, red), is the primary source of the ionising radiation for the brightest region in the nebula, called the 'Hourglass'.

The observations were taken by Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 between Feb. 12 and Feb. 18, 2018. The Hubble Space Telescope is a project of international cooperation between NASA and ESA (European Space Agency). This star-filled image, taken by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope in near-infrared wavelengths of light, reveals a very different view of the Lagoon Nebula compared to its visible-light portrait. Making infrared observations of the cosmos allows astronomers to penetrate vast clouds of gas and dust to uncover hidden gems. The Lagoon Nebula is a colossal object 55 light-year wide and 20 light-years tall.

Lagunnebulosan – Wikipedia

Even though it is about 4000 light-years away from Earth, it is three times larger in the sky than the full Moon. The Lagoon Nebula is a colossal object 55 light-year wide and 20 light-years tall.

The Lagoon Nebula is the winner The most obvious difference between Hubble's infrared and visible images of this region is the abundance of stars that fill the field of view in the infrared. Most of them are more distant, background stars located behind the nebula. However, some of them are young stars within the Lagoon Nebula itself. Hubble observed the Lagoon Nebula not only in visible light but also at infrared wavelengths. While the observations in the optical allow astronomers to study the gas in full detail, the infrared light cuts through the obscuring patches of dust and gas, revealing the more intricate structures underneath and the young stars hiding within it.
